Fighting Fear as a Worship Leader

"What if I miss that note?"
"Do I look ok in this outfit?"
"What does the congregation think of me right now?"
"Do they like my voice?"
"I'm not good enough to be up here leading worship."
These are some of the exact feelings and words I've heard from my clients, as well as floating through my own head and body as I've stepped up to lead.
Maybe you've thought or felt some of these things, too?
These thoughts and feelings can be the cause of things like:
Stage fright
Nerves
Anxiety
Panic
Fear
Or worse: completely leaving your assignment as a Worship Leader or Worship Singer because it's too much to bear.
But what does God have to say about this?
"So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father!" "
You are NOT bound to that fear. You are NOT obligated to listen to or entertain those feelings or thoughts when they make their appearance.
They are trying to distract you, tear you down, prevent you from living in your full identity and calling as a child of God.
Remember what the enemy comes to do? He comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
Steal your joy;
Kill your belief in what the Lord has gifted you to do;
Destroy your understanding of your identity as a child of God.
Don't fall for it, friend.
🥊 Fight back with God's Word 🥊
Remember NOT to lean on your own understanding (or confidence), but instead the understanding that we gain through the Word and in what God instructs us to do, think, feel, and be.
Get quiet with Him and His Word, and let Him lead you, keep you, and bless you on His path for you.
